A highly regarded tourism and marketing consultant, Dr. Bonini is President and Founder of Trademark Italia “TMI” (est. 1982), providing customized, professional marketing advisory services for the hospitality industry, as well as market research, independent market evaluations, operational audits, assessments, preliminary planning, hotel design, management, mentoring, teaching and training for hotels, resorts, spas and conference centers. Dr. Bonini has special knowledge of industry standards and market positioning, pricing strategy and direct sales, e-marketing and e-communication and serves Italy and international independent hotel operators, asset managers, travel agents, tour operators, destination marketing organizations, local government bodies, international investment funds, real estate agencies and international banks. In it’s more than 30 years of operation, Dr. Bonini boasts over 400 successful case histories of increased occupancy, rate growth and spending optimization.
Prior to founding TMI, Dr. Bononi had a long and distinguished career as a general manager for independent luxury and upscale hotels. He earned a B.A. degree at Urbino University and later a PhD in Social Sciences at the same University. Dr. Bonini is an expert in hospitality marketing and management, and has experience in all aspects of the tourism industry including planning, development and hospitality valuation. He is also experienced with statistical and economic feasibility analyses, business plans and market studies, as well as hotel concept and design.

Dr. Bonini is a visiting professor and a featured speaker and lecturer for: Cornell University’s Hotel School; Luiss Management (Rome); Assisi and Perugia University; and, Faculty of Tourism Economics at the University of Bologna, Rimini Campus. Dr. Bonini and his firm are regularly interviewed on national radio and television, and in magazines and newspapers. Since 1984, Dr. Bonini has published a popular quarterly newsletter titled “Trademark Trends.” He is also author of ten bestselling manuals for the hospitality industry and for marketing managers. He is fluent in Italian, English and French (German at school level).
