Ted J. Torres, CHA, ISHC, is a Partner and Head of Hospitality at CREDE Development and Construction Advisors. His responsibilities and specialty with CREDE are Development and Construction Advisory for a variety of clients and joint venture partners. Ted assists his clients in creating value through developing visions into concrete plans and full concept development for their current asset portfolios. A lifelong hotelier, Ted has built, owned, operated, renovated, repositioned and consulted on numerous hospitality projects in his 35+ years of professional experience. Ted has been responsible for the development, renovation and consultancy of over 10,000 hotel rooms both Domestically and Internationally for all major hotel franchise companies. At CREDE he is responsible for the strategic acquisition and development of new hotel and multifamily development advisory opportunities, as well as PIP and hotel renovations in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. Ted's primary skills include Development Advisory Services, Entitlement Consulting, Construction, and Expert Project Management. CREDE and its team of 170 execution professionals work in all major commercial real estate classes in 37 states, Mexico and the Caribbean. Multi-Family, Industrial, Mixed-Use, Office, Retail, Hospitality, Healthcare, Senior Assisted Living and Education. Combined, CREDE has successfully developed over 3,000 projects on six continents.

Background

  • Ted has spent most of his career as an independent hotelier, with a brief stint as an asset manager for a west coast based company. From his start at Wharf Enterprises as Vice President of Acquisitions, he utilized his acumen and expertise in finance, market analysis, asset assessment, and brand analysis to grow the company to over 2,500 hotel rooms under ownership and management. In developing that base over 14 years, Ted has been an asset manager with multiple hotel oversight, and then an independent consultant working with Hilton in the Caribbean and Europe for site development and in the same capacity working with Wyndham to open up Chile and Peru. In 2 years he acquired, entitled, and built 8 hotels under the Wyndham brands ultimately disposing of the assets in a partnership sale. At CREDE he has acquired and built strong relationships with Outrigger, Sonesta, CFT, Sunstone, Clearsky, Starpoint, Coast, Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott and multiple family offices.

A Graduate of Arizona State University with a BS in Business Administration and Management, Ted is a 35+ year hospitality industry veteran. He is a Certified Hospitality Administrator, the hotel industry’s highest professional designation, and has served on franchise advisory boards for three Major Hotel Companies. He has become a member of ISHC, the International Society of Hospitality Consultants, and now a member of Cayuga Hospitality Consultants.
