Combining expertise in real estate, hospitality and finance, Dan monitors macro-trends while being able to zero in on minute details. He is current in supply and demand dynamics, site potential, concept development, area programming, property performance, financials, valuation, financing, investing, operator relations, pre-opening process, and owner representation. His expertise applies to a range of hospitality assets including hotels, resorts, serviced apartments, gaming, golf, shared ownership, mixed-use developments, MICE facilities, master plans, and further encompasses tourism, wellness and sustainability. Dan has provided expert witness services at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre and Shanghai International Arbitration Centre (SHIAC).

Background

Dan is the CEO and founder of AP Hospitality Advisors headquartered in Hong Kong with offices in Bangkok, Beijing and Shenzhen. Overseeing a regional team of associates, Dan and his team have advised institutional and private owners, lenders, developers, investors, and operators in the hospitality real estate space. Dan maintains strong relations with all major hotel operators in the region, publishing the Hotel Operator Guide Asia-Pacific since 2013. Other tools for the industry include the Hotel Architect and Hotel Law Guides. Dan's many articles and publications on a range of hospitality topics can be found on the web and AP website. Dan graduated with a Bachelor of Science (hons) from the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland.

He is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS - 5623441) and a licensed agent under the Hong Kong Estate Agent Authority (EAA - E-443648).

An active member of the Urban Land Institute, Dan is vice-chair of the Asia Pacific Hospitality Development Council (HDC) and member of the Resilient Cities Council.

Dan is an EDGE expert under the program by the World Bank Group and IFC.

A frequent speaker at conferences and events, Dan has been a guest lecturer for Bachelor and Master students at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne and Beijing International Studies University (BISU).
